We are an independent gift shop on Roncesvalles Ave and we are looking for a person who is confident and creative, and (ideally) with retail experience to join our team!

We are looking for someone who knows the store and likes what we do. Someone who is comfortable interacting with all sorts of people. Someone confident who can think on their feet when needed.
This is a permanent part time position to work 3 days a week up to around 15-20 hours. Occasional weekend flexibility is useful.
Some Qualifications:
Retail experience
Generally enjoys people. You will meet a lot of wonderful people and some more interesting characters and will have to be able to talk to everyone.
Schedule flexibility to cover a little vacation time or sick days would be great.
Can take the initiative to suggest/make improvements to the shop and customer experiences.
Reliable. This is often an independent position, we need to know we can depend on you.
Fast learner and not easily frazzled. The job is usually pretty calm but if things speed up around the holidays we need you to not get overwhelmed.
A little creativity helps and an understanding of what we are doing with our product mix.
Comfort with computers is helpful, we use a cloud based POS system (Lightspeed) so experience in that area would be nice. But it is straightforward enough to learn quick.
Some Responsibilities:
Your main focus is sales -- We never hard sell, so the job is to provide a comfortable and informative environment for everyone who decides to pay us a visit.
Solid product knowledge and understanding the ideas behind each brand are where we start, but it is a never-ending process.
Receiving merchandise, pricing and organizing back stock.
Help creating displays and rethinking merchandising may be requested at times.
Keeping the shop tidy and running well.
Inventory control when needed.
Opening and closing the shop.
Packing up and fulfilling online orders.
What Working Here Needs:
Capable of reasonable physical demands. Bending, stretching and lifting.
Capable of lifting a decent sized box. Rarely above 40 pounds.
Some shifts you will work alone when the shop closes after dark.
Capable of managing stressful situations and potential conflict from time to time.
We have a lot of candles, soaps and diffusers. A serious scent sensitivity may be a problem.
We love our neighbourhood and our customers and have worked hard to build a great relationship with both. If you feel you can help us continue that journey we would like to hear from you.
We start with a training period and pay $19/hour and will assess your development after 3 months.
